It was 9:00 a.m., on a sunny Saturday Spring morning! 2839 Bedford Avenue, Brooklyn, NYC! It was an awesome site to behold! 145 of the best and brightest students from across New York City High Schools converging on Midwood Medical High School @ Brooklyn College! Science projects in hand, violins in their cases, students in tuxedo, evening gowns, business suits and festive dress. After 4 months of rigorous coaching and training, developing projects in Dance, Dramatics, Poetry, Vocal, Filmmaking, Painting, Biology, Physics, Mathematics and much more, the day of competition was finally here. The students made presentations all day before more than 50 qualified judges, in the more than 26 ACT-SO categories, until late in the evening when the last student in Earth and Space Science made her presentation.
It was finally over and the students gave it their all. Now the judges have adjudicated and the results are in, the stakes are high and the anticipation is unbearable. More than 60 Gold, Silver and Bronze medals along with cash will be awarded to the students with the highest scores in Saturday’s competition.
